I am moving into a new position this fall which is to provide technology integration support. I think this class will give me more tools to share with teachers.
My principal, Will Allen, felt it would help me be a more effective teacher since technology is constantly changing and students are more "in tune" with its changes than adults and teachers.
Sounded like a lot of fun, and I want to learn about using IPods and Ipads since my school has class sets of them. Actually, I want to know if people would recommend IPads or Androids more since we are discussing it before purchase and I have heard many different opinions.
I recongize my future students will be experiencing digital lives, and if I wish to fully engage them in my classes, then I will need to address this aspect of their lives. Since I am not always completely comfortable with technology, this workshop is a good way to expose myself to technology I can then use with my students.
Cindy O-Donnell-Allen invited me to take participate, and I cannot wait for this experience! I am here to learn, grow, and collaborate with everyone here; also, I want to become the most prepared teacher I can be!
I am in the class to learn and apply the new ways technology can be implemented with writing. I am excited to see how the student's writing will improve with technology. It should also add excitement to their approach to writing in the classroom.
I am at this workshop to learn different tools that I can use in my classroom next year. I believe students love to use technology to learn, and I am excited to explore new ways to teach writing (and other subjects) using technology.
Although I'm in the role of facilitator, I wanted to be here because I'm still very much a learner in terms of digital tools in education. I want to explore, play, discover and have an excuse to do it. I also need to be challenged along the way. Bring it on.
I am at this workshop so I can learn to intergrate technology into my classroom. We have been given new equipment and I need to use it. The kids are excited and motivated!
I so agree with Sasha stating that our students will be living and learning thru digital technology. We need to learn as much as we can in order to keep ahead of them.
What I think was key about what Jason said is that teachers themselves are learners alongside their students. I think a lot of the trepidation teachers feel, or at least I feel, about using technology in my classroom is that I won't be fully prepared to use it. However, if teachers start to think about sharing their role in the classroom with their students, and that they can learn from their students, then this makes my position more comfortable.
I try to push myself to learn technology when I can because I'm not very comfortable with it and I want to be so that I will use it more with my students.
I love writing and teaching writing. I am here because I feel that, through technology, we can create students that are better writers and enjoy the process of writing.
Ann- I'm so thankful for all your knowledge and how you share it. Your support helps me keep going forward and stretching myself to learn and try more.

ReplyDeleteAdrienne - Imagine - We have to catch up to what the kids already know! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope to learn a lot of new technology to use with students in the classroom. It seems like such a fun way for them to learn!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the truth Adrienne! The kids do know more than me!
ReplyDeleteBarbie - All I can say is "you go girl"! I want you to be a sponge at this workshop so that you can help me out next year!!

ReplyDeleteBarbie,
ReplyDeleteI love how you see technology as helping them learn, not just making learning more interesting!
tsm mentioned the connection between student writing improvement and digital writing. I am also interested in this...
